Coachella put brand sponsorship revenue above sound quality and general attendee experience. But at least the $375 per person omakase sushi experience was a VIP pleaser.
love how in depth you went on this, appreciate the detail. I was there too and noticed some of the sound issues as well. Hopefully the Goldenvoice team can correct some of this going forward
There are so many arguments to be made for and against the Red Bull pyramid x Quasar setup - but the sound being off, considering that Coachella's engineers brought the world vertically stacked speakers, is unforgivable. We tried to see Tiesto at it one of those cases where GV underestimated an artist's popularity and put him on a stage that was far too small. We ended up in a barely moving crowd behind the pyramid without a view or good sound from the stage, and ultimately left. Acting as a pool house for influencers and the most insufferable people you know may be the Red Bull pyramid's best purpose, but please give the Quasar stage more room and sort out the audio for its third year.
Really disappointing to have this much talent on stage and not give them the means with which to perform at a high level. Also the portrait mode for the Quasar Stream was really annoying and it was noticeable that it was only for that stage and none other.
