Clocked far too many hours in that magical tent 3 years ago at Coachella, including hearing this edit. Honestly had just written it off after a few months as something I would never find or know anything more about. Crazy to have stumbled upon your writing within the last month or two and that lead me to an ID on this edit all this time later. Appreciate the great read to accompany the ID itself, truly made my day!

I'm so glad I could make your day. That year, I did both Coachella weekends and spent 32 out of 36 total possible hours inside Despacio across both weekends. It was the weekend my love for Despacio tipped into obsession.

It makes the record (already great) that more special because it took three years to find it.

I was worried we’d never find it! So glad we did.

Loved this.

I listen mostly to Balaeric style music, commonly played at Cafe Del Mar. I spent time there as well, listening to some of the best DJs in the world, and some of the things that they spin is incredible.

We also have a lot of amazing very small music festivals all throughout Europe in the summer… And you’ll stumble across this kind of music with the most amazing mix as well from lesser-known obscure DJs

You go through 9 to 12 minutes of the most ecstatic, borderline orgasmic trance, like state and just go whoa… That was incredible.

Knowing that more than likely, you may never hear it again. So I get it.

And in a way, it’s kind of nice… I’ll be out somewhere randomly shopping and hear like a handful of notes from a song (unrelated) that triggers the memory of one of those songs I’ve heard either at a musical festival or some random bar in the middle of nowhere France playing Balaeric tunes by chance or at a hostel bar in central Copenhagen.

And it’s so cool because this handful of unrelated notes while grocery shopping at Coop brings me back to some amazing places I visited over the years… And even though I may not have that song physically at hand, the memories that it brings and the warmth is the most magical and irreplaceable

Reminds me… There was a really cool tiny hotel in Copenhagen about 20 years ago that released their own CDs… And they were incredible. And I can’t find them anymore. I’ll have to go dig out my collection and see if I can even find it… Something like the front hotel? I know the hotel doesn’t exist anymore… I remember the CD had a bulldog on it. The background was blue… And the music was just incredible.

And thanks for writing this article, it really made me smile.

You make a great point about the ephemeral nature of music that touches us deeply and how it always stays inside us, even if we never locate it. I think such tunes permanently change us and we can never fully forget them.

Let me know if you find that Front Hotel / Bulldog CD. I'm curious now what it is!

And thank you so much for giving it a read and for sharing such a great comment.

Wow you are so good at writing a story! I mean narrative nonfiction! Especially mystery! This is amazing! I was totally hooked 😂
