I’ve just discovered your Substack via a Reddit about Stereo Montreal. WOW, you are putting into words things which I’ve always felt, in my 27 years as a clubber. Can’t wait to read more!
I’m off to Stereo a week today for Markus Schulz 12 hour open to close: and ambition of mind since becoming a Markus fan 12 years ago.
Your write-up has just made me even more excited about it.
Thank you. Is there any food available? When I heard Stereo is no alcohol (which I am VERY happy about), I assumed there’d be snacks and smoothies etc like in some Berlin clubs… but I’ve read online there’s no food. You mention coffee in your review; any energy bars or similar available? Not sure how I’ll manage 12 hours otherwise. In clubs with usual hours I smuggle cereal bars in my cowboy boots, but for a 12 hour set I’ll be in sneakers not boots…
Pacha Ibiza used to have a pizza bar back in the day; Space Ibiza had pizzas for a while too. Most clubs here in London (UK) are food-free, aside from Fabric London which now has a 24 hour weekend license and a small hatch with pizza and coffee. They also sometimes have a burger van outside. Ministry Of Sound has a greasy burger van too, but no healthy options. I wish more clubs had energy bars, fruit et cetera - small snacks to keep us going for hours.
There's some light food available at the bar. Protein bars, smoothies, that sort of thing, I believe. It should be easy to smuggle in some snacks in your undies.
Oh that’s great news. I did think surely they must have something, when offering sets that long. I know most of the crowd is probably not in a state to be wanting food, but I ALWAYS want food 😅
What a completely brilliant piece. Thank you. You are articulating thoughts that pass through my mind on the dancefloor and are not captured by my ongoing internal monolgue as per normal life - which is part of the point, of course, but as someone fascinated by dancefloor somatics I do occasionally idly wish I had a sort of psychic sieve in which I could sift for these gems. Deep bows of gratitude to you for writing this.

Can concurJohn Digweed at Stereo Montreal was magical. As others have said brilliantly articulated and observed. 👏

This makes me want to go to Stereo Montreal! No alcohol, plus a sprung wood dance floor? This former ballerina is intrigued!
definitely check it out if you can — it’s a global mecca for dance amongst those who know, DJs and dancers alike.
