The eclectic list defies easy categorization, but a few themes do emerge: you’re cultural omnivores, music-first but not music-only, drawn to taste-making, nightlife, independent media, queer/countercultural scenes, and you enjoy smart commentary about how culture and power work.
You especially dig writing about dance music as culture, not just as music for passive consumption, especially if it’s got a countercultural, queer, psychedelic, and/or spiritual edge. Examples: Shawn Reynaldo’s First Floor, Journal of the Motherbeat by Eris Drew, Rave New World by Michelle Lhooq, Berlin Waveforms by Liam Cagney, The Deviant Dispatch by mo aka DJ GAY PANIC, Vincent Jenewein’s Infinite Speeds, Bandcamp’s Bandcamp Notes, Call Super’s Arpozine, and Joe’s Bass, Mids, Tops and the Rest.
So here’s the list — feel free to reply with your favorite publication if it seems like it belongs in the list, even if it didn’t meet the “50 subscribers” cutoff that I had to use for space reasons. Despite the risk of making big publications bigger, the list is ordered by popularity.
